Do I need to have my MacBook connected to the charger during the upgrade?
Yes, it is strongly advised to keep your MacBook connected to the charger to mitigate any potential issues that may arise during the upgrade.
Do I need to have my Mac connected to the Internet during the upgrade?
Yes, an Internet connection is required to download and install the upgrade seamlessly.
What will happen to files on my Mac during the upgrade?
While files on your Mac are expected to remain unaffected, it is recommended to safeguard your data by backing up all files to your Google Drive to prevent any loss.
What happens if the upgrade fails to complete?
In the event of a failed upgrade, please submit an Incident IQ (IIQ) ticket for prompt assistance.
Why is my Mac/software being upgraded?
Your Mac/software is undergoing an upgrade to introduce new features, enhance system performance, and bolster cybersecurity measures.
How long does the upgrade take?
The upgrade process is estimated to take approximately one hour (may take more or less).
Will the upgrade occur even if I am at home?
Yes, as long as your Mac is connected to the Internet, the upgrade will initiate.
Will this upgrade interrupt me during instructional time/ working hours?
Expect approximately 20 minutes of downtime on your Mac during the software upgrade. Please note, that a system upgrade, expect approximately 40 minutes of
downtime. It is advised to plan accordingly.
When will this upgrade take place?
This upgrade will be conducted in accordance with the "patch schedule" on the Office of Information Technology (OIT) website. In the case of an emergency upgrade,
communication will be provided by the Director of Technology.
Can I continue to use my Mac while upgrading?
Although it is possible to use your Mac during the upgrade, it is not recommended, as the system may reboot at any moment to complete the upgrade.
How will I know when the upgrade is completed?
The upgrade is considered complete after your Mac undergoes a reboot/restart. Please note, for software upgrades, your device will not reboot/restart.
