This step by step guide will aide those who are having issues being able to use the camera on a meeting within your device.
Method 1: The Pop-Up
This issue is most common when the device has never done a Google Meet before. Google meet needs to be given permission to allow the camera and microphone for it to work with your device.
Once this message appears when you log into the browser for the first time, it will automatically ask for permission to allow the camera and microphone. Once the action of pressing "Allow" is performed the camera as well as the microphone will automatically turn on and work as intended.
If this method does not work, this option does not appear, or the camera has shut off after multiple use please see Method 2.
Method 2: The Lock
This method works for those who get a message stating, "Camera and microphone are locked" and if the camera will not turn on.
On the lock icon next to the address bar on the top of the screen will create a drop down menu that you can access the base accessibility for the specific site you are on. If the camera and microphone were blocked then they will appear in this drop down menu that you can toggle on to blue. Once the Microphone and Camera have been toggled on, reload the page for it to work properly.
Alternate Method: Site Settings
If the options do not appear in the locked drop down, this alternative method can assist in solving this issue. In the lock drop down from method 2, at the very bottom will have an option for Site settings. Clicking on it will bring you to an external page in chrome.
This page is a more in-depth version of the lock icon in method 2, look under Privacy and Security and then Permissions to find the camera and microphone options in the menu.
When switching the options, a drop down menu will appear in which you will select Allow for both the camera and microphone options individually. Once those have been set, go back to the Google Meets tab and reload the page for the settings to take effect.
